Dutch consumer confidence weakened for the first time in three months in September, while spending growth improved in July, figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics showed Thursday.

The seasonally adjusted consumer confidence index dropped to 23.0 in September from 26.0 in August.

Households' judgment on the economic climate worsened in September. The corresponding index slid to 43.0 from 49.0 in the prior month.

The index measuring willingness to buy dropped marginally from 11.0 in August to 10.0 in September.

Separately, the statistical office revealed that consumer spending grew at a faster pace of 2.8 percent annually in July, following a 2.3 percent increase in June.

The measure has been rising since October 2014. In July, consumers spent more on home furnishings.
